Starburst is a five-reel and three-row video slot. It has just 10 paylines in place, but what makes them so important to the game is that they pay both ways. This means that wins can be created either from the left-hand side or the right-hand side.
It has a low volatility, which makes sense as the payout is set at just 600x the player stake. The RTP is set at 96.09%, which is in line with the average for the market.
The way that the paylines work is very important to the way that the game is played. To put it simply, it doubles the total number of paylines and gives players 20 ways to create a win on every spin.
It’s not quite as simple as that in practice though as a payline can only pay out a single way at a time. However, there are still two chances on each payline for every spin, which makes it more generous to players on the whole. Whenever a Starburst wild appears on one of the middle three reels, the respin feature begins. This will expand the wild to completely cover the whole reel and then award players a respin. It doesn’t end there though. If another wild lands on one of the remaining middle reels, then that will also expand and award a respin. If another wild lands on the final middle reel, then that expands and a final respin is awarded.
This final respin gives players a guaranteed win as the middle three reels will all be totally wild. It means that all symbols that land on the first or last reels can be part of a winning payline. This obviously awards some very good payouts to players.
Starburst is probably the perfect low volatility slot. Although it doesn’t offer huge payouts, it still has a lot going for it.
